A Few Answers to Common Food Inquiries....
I have a question about one of your recipes...
Ok, great! I have an answer for you (I hope)!
But, seeing as I get a lot of recipe and other food related questions via email, and many of them seem to repeat themselves, I have found that it is much better (for all involved) if readers leave their recipe-specific questions in the comment section for that dish. This is because, for one, I ALWAYS read new comments and will likely respond to a published comment much faster than I would to an email. Additionally, anyone else with your question can save themselves the time of having to ask because the question, and my answer, will already be published.
Can I make a (specific substitution) for a (specific recipe)?
Unfortunately I am not confident in recommending substitutions that I have not previously worked out in my own kitchen. As much as I wish I were able to, it is just not possible for me to rework each recipe to fit every possible dietary restriction (especially since, in my daily routine, I do not need to accommodate any).
I do try to mention whatever substitutions that I know will work, but these recommendations are certainly not all-inclusive. That being said, if you discover a substitution or develop an adaptation of a recipe that works within a particular dietary limitation, please share it with us in the comments. Surely other readers will appreciate it as much as I do.
Why didn't your recipe work for me?
Oh dear! Well, to be perfectly honest...I have no idea!
Not to be dismissive about the situation (or rude, or callous) but simply, I am not in the kitchen with you! I don't know about the quality of your chosen ingredients, or the conditions in your kitchen (temperature, elevation, equipment and so forth), and that is just the BEGINNING of all the things that can go wrong...
In general, if you have tried the recipe (as written) twice with the same disastrous results, then I would recommend bringing it to the community (by posting a comment for the appropriate recipe) describing, in as much detail as you can, the nature of the recipe's demise. From there, hopefully myself, or the other readers, can help you to uncover (and solve) the problem.
Will you consider posting the nutritional information for the recipes you feature on your site?
Readers often request detailed nutritional information for my foods. Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor the expertise to provide this analysis for each dish... That being said, however, I do try and provide the basic calorie count and any major nutritional benefits for a recipe using a secondary service, CalorieCount.About.com, which breaks down each of my recipes (by ingredients and serving size) to provide a brief analysis.
